Robert was born and raised in South Carolina. From an early age, he came to love his state's natural beauty, as well as its rich cultural heritage. The people and places he experienced growing up there became his inspiration to write, especially as he began to watch them slip away to time and changing demographics. Robert still lives in South Carolina, with his wife, Christina, and Kate the cat. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hiking, camping, target shooting and restoring vintage tube radios. His lovely, free-spirited daughter Jordan is a professional college student and makes an appearance from time to time.
